Here we have the revival of what used to be “DOHHARIOINTERVIEWS” but now is instead “AMEKOSAINTERVIEWS”. In this revival we’ll be bringing you some OG interviews which will give you a taste of the new stuff we’ve got to come.
Here is someone I really look up to within vintage. He’s done so much for the scene and is definitely one of young early adopters. He’s achieved great feats in the game with the most notorious achievement in my opinion being the BBC Three series “Deadstock” in which both him and another great seller and personality by the name of Fiona hosted a series about the world of reselling in 2019. (If you’re still yet to see it, check the link out below.)

So for those who are still yet to see this interview here it is. So lets get to know the man who is YOUTH.
So for all the people out there who know little about you or haven’t even discovered you yet, tell us a little more about yourself. Whats your name, where are you from, what do you do and whats the biggest thing you’re into right now e.g. a song, type of food or a certain piece of clothing you’ve just bought for example?
My names Youth, I’m from Birmingham and I’m a seller of vintage clothing. One of the biggest things I’m into right now is music. I’ve always been into music but I think particularly now I’m discovering a lot in the way of newer music and a lot of things I wasn’t previously into so really discovering new things within it!
Having 106K followers sure is a great feat for a number of reasons and exposure being one of the most important I’m sure. So exactly how long have you been selling on depop and what first got you into actually selling on Depop?
I’ve been selling on Depop for three years now. The first thing that got me into selling on Depop was when I was travelling in Asia. I kept going to markets and seeing awesome pieces of clothing so as I was travelling and I just kept collecting and collecting and eventually sent all those pieces back to England. It was around 150 – 200 pieces and then from there I set up my shop and used that as my stock to start selling on Depop.
Over my short period of time on the Depop app I’ve definitely seen a few funny things myself along with the incomprehensible but with your time served whats the funniest moment you’ve had to memory in your time on Depop?
One of my funniest moments on Depop was when my friend bought an item from my store but she didn’t actually know I sold on Depop and that it was my store. So I inboxed her on facebook randomly with a picture of me wearing the item she’d just bought and then she got really excited and started saying that she bought the same item and then told it to her that it was the item she was getting she couldn’t believe it.
In your Depop Interview when sitting in a music room you said “We have to have collaboration for things to be able to exist”, you’re obviously a fan of collaboration so what’s been your best collab project yet?
Generally I would say my best collaboration project yet is working with Depop as a Community Leader which means I help people within the community to develop, start their shops and give them advice on selling. But I also have an insight into changes that are made within the app, things that need to be rearranged, taken out, changed. Its kind of like an ongoing process. I think thats the biggest collaboration because I’m constantly seeing our ideas getting put into action. This is as there are some things now which were getting requested and they have made those come to reality.
Its becoming a standard practice that you just don’t run one social media platform anymore but instead multiple! Obviously you’re hitting Depop hard and killing it! But what happened to the Instagram account and if you’re not on any other social media how come? Have you just put all your focus into Depop as your platform?
At the minute the Instagram account is down because I’m focusing my time on Depop. But there are plans to get the Instagram back up along with starting a boutique store which is gonna kind of be a rare selects. So its just gonna be real key iconic pieces kind of the best and thats all gonna be on a .com website.
As creatives we have a vast number of ways at looking at things and all have great opinions just like anyone else. You’re big into creativity being a massive circle with people who are creative jumping between different avenues within the creative realm. Is there anything you’re dipping into at the moment?
One of the things I’m experimenting with at the minute in my creative circle is photography. Ive always been a visual artist just as much as I am a musician because thats my forte thats what I do. The creative project I’m going into next is gonna be a photography project which compliments my music as well so its gonna be my music and a photography project together which I’m going to be setting up and releasing next year!
With you being such a big player on Depop, you talk about working on projects with the company. Is there anything in the pipework and if not have you got anything which you’ve personally got emerging? I know you mentioned wanting to broaden yourself with interviews alongside key figures in fashion and starting a blog.
There are projects going on with Depop at the minute but unfortunately everything is confidential. Something thats happening in terms of Rare is what I spoke about earlier the Rare Select brand which is gonna be just key pieces so you’re gonna see a lot of Versace, Moschino, Gucci, Fendi, Dior and these type of brands. Im gonna build that slow but just with high, high, high quality in pieces.
I and I’m sure the rest of the Depop community too can do nothing but thank you for giving us the opportunity to have some of your time to tell us about yourself! So to top it off give us your two best tips or more if you’d like, on becoming a successful seller on Depop and any other words of wisdom you have!
Two top tips on Depop, firstly would be to work incredibly hard, don’t stop working! It doesn’t matter whether you’ve got 10 items on, you can always reshoot those items, repost those items you can start an instagram account. Theres all these things you can do all the time. Secondly I would actually say to build a brand. People need a reason to go to you and not to another store. Whats special about your brand?? Is it your clothing?? Is it the way you shoot or style it?? Is it the type of photography you use?? Is it the type of pieces?? Really build a brand and if you’re not sure what a brand is you can use google and find out what it is and how you can develop your ideas into a brand. Last words of wisdom keep doing what you’re doing! At one point this was something that I really wanted to do in terms of sell clothes and be involved with Depop and helping develop their app. Making money, being my own boss and starting my own business. Im now looking around me with thousands of pieces of clothing and just releasing that all this comes from an idea and hard work. ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE, ANYTHING!!
