AMEKOSA INTERVIEWS:BLOCK P

It was February 2018 when I first linked up with Block P who I met through the Depop Community Leaders event, I’ll be honest there were some great people doing great things there and who’d been in the game for some serious time but out of anyone no one attracted me like Block P did. So Depop thanks for that link up who knows without you maybe we would have never crossed paths

So, with that I couldn’t pass up on being sure to collaborate with Block P and we’ve been doing just that and trust me there won’t be any stopping. If you haven’t seen the Block P Youtube channel already where I am presenter, then I suggest you definitely do so…click the image below to go straight there!

So with all that here is Block P.

1. So Block P introduce yourself to all the readers out there and let us know your favourite song right now?

We Block P are a rare trainer specialist based in Liverpool. We are supplying the sneaker community with pairs of hard to find kicks while giving you sneaker related content to keep you entertained along the way.

For everyone out there you can catch us on socials at @theblockp (Instagram)@blockp (Depop, TikTok and Youtubeand also check the website https://blockp.co.uk

The Block P’s favourite song right now has got to be Emotionally Scared – Lil Baby

2. Air Max 95’s are definitely Block P’s bread and butter so with that why are Air Max 95’s Block P’s favourite shoe? Oh, and what were the first pair of 95’s you ever had?

All the OG’s out there will be happy to hear that the first pair of Air Max 95 I had were of course the Neon’s. Now the reason why I appreciate them so much is because they’re such a great quality trainer and also ideal for all occasions.

3. In 1992 the Air Max 90/1 was the first hybrid shoe that Nike put out. Mixing the Air Max 1 OG upper with the new technology of the Air Max 90. Since then Nike have been up to their same old tricks and still putting out hybrids to this day. What are your views on the current hybrid scene within Nike?

If we’re talking about the current Nike hybrid scene and take the Nike Air Max 95 Vapormax as an example I’ve got to say I’m just not that big on them. It’s got to be the classics or just the original silhouettes. Keep them how they were originally intended.

4. We now know about the first pair of Air Max 95’s you had but now we want to know what your favourite pair are and why?

It’s got to be the Nike Air Max 95 Mita Ueno Prototype. Firstly, because the shoe is extremely rare and hard to get hold of. For those who don’t know it was a Japan exclusive release that was only sold through Mita Sneakers both in-store and online but in very limited numbers. These are also Block P’s favourite pair of 95’s because of the amazing detail too with the best part in our opinion being the “Ueno” embroidery on the inner lining.

“UENO” Inside embroidery detail.

If you don’t know why they say “Ueno”, then that’s where in Tokyo Mita Sneakers is based.

5. Everyone always has that most anticipated release of the year, that shoe they’re looking to not miss out on so what’s Block P’s most anticipated sneaker release for 2020?

It’s the got to be the recently released Air Max 95 Gunsmoke/Pink Foam. Block P loves to see an overseas limited release!

6. There’s shoe after shoe after shoe out there for you to be making money on but from all out there which ones been your hottest?

It’s our bread and butter sneaker, the Nike Air Max 95. It couldn’t get any better than that!

7. The market for fake shoes is one that is only growing by the second and it’s also scary to see just how good fakes are now becoming from where they used to be a few years ago. So where exactly do you stand when we come onto the topic of fakes?

Personally, it doesn’t bother me what other people want to do or what they want to wear because that’s not down to me it’s entirely up to them. However, from my own point of view I really don’t see the point when it comes to fakes. When buying Nike shoes for example the biggest USP for me is the quality of the shoe that I’m buying which when you buy fakes just isn’t there so when you think you’re saving money the shoe will in fact last you less time than the real version would simply down to bad craftsmanship and quality of materials.

8. We’re over 3 months into 2020 now and a new year brings new things along with evolution. So, let us know one thing that we all need to hear about that’s coming from Block P in 2020?

You wanted one but here’s two. Firstly, it’s the Block P’s clothing line which you will definitely be seeing more of so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for that one. Secondly, we all know that TikTok is getting ever bigger by the minute so be sure to head over to our TikTok and catch all our new content that we’ve got for you guys.

9. It’s definitely hard to imagine the sneaker scene without Nike but let’s say Phil Knight never started the brand which was originally named Blue Ribbon. Let us know which shoe brand would be your favourite and why?

That’s definitely a good question. Being from Liverpool I’ve got to say I’d most probably lean in towards more designer brands. The main contenders for me would have to include LV, Chanel and Valentino. There’s one shoe that we also can’t forget and those are Kanye West’s, Yeezys.

10. So, we like to finish off with some value for all the readers out there. So for everyone who’s stuck with us give us Block P’s one piece of advice to go by?

This one’s short and sweet and there’s also nothing like getting straight to the point so Block P’s one simple but valuable piece of advice to go by is to simply stick to something you’re passionate about!

|INTERVIEW OVER|

Just like that it’s already time to wrap up Block P’s interview. I’ve got to say its been a pleasure getting to know the brand just that little bit more and I hope all of you out there have enjoyed reading our little dive too.

Let us know what you thought by leaving a comment below and if you could have Amekosa interview anyone of your choosing whether it be a brand or a personality exactly who would that be?
