Week 20 has arrived, just 5 weeks away from a quarter of a century! This weeks definitely strongly orientated around the UK grime scene with 8 of the 10 tracks being from UK artists along with a hint of US flavour coming from Lupe Fiasco and Drake. Who’s trying to say grime’s dead, huh? If so then you’re tripping the grime scene isn’t dead stop kidding yourselves.
Trying to make a decision for week 20’s track of the week was a tough one. There are two main contenders and they include both Jaykae’s newly released single “On Top” and “Mains” from Skepta’s recent collaborative album “Insomnia”. Last week Skeppy, Chip and Young Adz took the title and this week they snap it up once again. I really want to give Jaykae week 20’s track of the week but when it simply comes down to track plays,“Mains” takes the prize.
Last week I talked about how I wasn’t really getting on that well with Young Adz’s flow on “Waze” but this week there’s something about his flow on this beat which I’m liking. For me after listening back to the two it’s the static flow that Adz spits with on “Waze” that just isn’t for me. I don’t get on with it well from any artist not just Adz, I like things smooth instead of choppy. So, with Adz’s smooth flow on this, I’m down.
